RHODE ISLAND STATE POLICE / RIBA

RIBA/Rhode Island State Police ELDERLY/SENIOR WALK-AWAY PROJECT / AMBER ALERT

The Rhode Island Broadcasters Association and Rhode Island State Police have partnered together on the recently passed "ELDERLY/SENIOR WALK-AWAY" bill.  The Rhode Island State Police will share a tier of the RIBA Cancellation system where they will enter the description of the missing elderly/senior person.  This information will instantly be sent to all radio and television stations via email and text alerts, using the tree set up for the cancellation system.

The long standing relationship of the Amber Alert Program with the broadcasters and State Police took to the Foxborough stadium this past January.  Together with the Massachusetts & Connecticut State Police, viewers and listeners were offered a chance to have thier children's information and fingerprints put on a thumb-drive for use in the case of emergency, where a child is missing.  RIBA donated the thumb-drives for this most worthy cause.  A follow-up poster contest was initiated and together this week, RIBA & RISP will present a plaque to the lucky and creative winning student.  Winning posters are submitted to a national contest where the finalist will travel to Washington, DC.
