Public Education Partnerships
- RIBA’s Public Education Partnership (PEP) program helps government agencies and non-profit organizations to affordably deliver their important public service messages to Rhode Islanders.
- Spots are delivered to all RIBA member radio and TV stations. Participating Spanish-language radio stations translate messages into Spanish at no additional cost.
- Stations are asked to air the spots in rotating dayparts in unsold or remnant commercial inventory.
- Station participation in PEP campaigns is voluntary, although almost all RIBA member stations participate on a monthly basis.
- RIBA guarantees to provide the PEP partner organization with at least $4 in advertising time for every $1 invested, based on typical market rates.
- RIBA invests the proceeds from the PEP program in member services, such as scholarships and events.
- Participating stations may include PEP spots in their quarterly issues/programs reports in their public files.
- How is it different from a PSA? - PSAs do not hold any airtime guarantees. PEPs do. A public service announcement (PSA) is aired by a station without a monetary commitment and is therefore aired by the station at its own discretion.
- The ideal PEP candidate is…
- A government agency or nonprofit organization which needs to communicate a statewide message and wants to maximize their reach to the widest audience possible.
- An organization which is not currently purchasing over-the-air television or radio and has not been in contact with individual stations (or station groups) for the purpose of buying advertising. RIBA exists to support its members and does not compete with them for outreach dollars.
